Liberty Enlightening the World, known more commonly as the Statue of Liberty, is a statue given to the United States by the Paris based Union Franco-Americaine (Franco-American Union) in 1876, standing at Liberty Island in the mouth of the Hudson River in New York Harbor as a welcome to all visitors, immigrants, and returning Americans. |

The Statue of Liberty |
|
|
The Statue of Liberty is a nice monument, but it's just as good from far away as it is up close. We took a very crowded ferry out to the island and looked around, but it wasn't really that exciting. With so much to do in New York, it's probably best just to take this attraction in from Manhattan. |
